Home Equipment Checklist for the UAE: Bed, Wheelchair, Oxygen Concentrator and Bathroom Aids

Short answer: a home equipment checklist for the UAE has four parts, each chosen by specification: a bed (manual crank or electric 3-function or 5-function), a wheelchair (manual, electric, foldable or reclining), an oxygen concentrator (stationary 5L or 10L, or portable battery pulse-dose) and bathroom aids such as a shower chair. You can buy or rent most of this equipment, and we deliver across the UAE.

Bed: manual crank or electric 3/5 function

A hospital bed comes in two main types. A manual crank bed is adjusted with hand cranks and needs no power. An electric bed is adjusted from a handset: 3-function and 5-function models differ in how many adjustments they offer, so check the product page for the exact list. Also compare the mattress size, the safe working load and whether side rails are included. Read our hospital bed buying guide, or see hospital bed rental if you only need one for a short time.

Wheelchair: manual, electric, foldable or reclining

Choose a wheelchair by its seat and frame features. A manual wheelchair has no battery and is pushed by hand. An electric wheelchair runs on a battery and is driven from a joystick. A foldable model collapses for a car boot, so check the folded size and the weight. A reclining model has an adjustable backrest angle. For every type, compare the seat width and the weight capacity. See our wheelchair selection guide and our foldable electric wheelchairs.

Oxygen concentrator: stationary 5L/10L or portable

A stationary oxygen concentrator runs on mains power, and the 5L or 10L figure is its maximum flow-rate setting in litres per minute. A portable model runs on a rechargeable battery and uses pulse-dose delivery. Choose by the flow-rate setting, the battery life and the weight listed in the specifications. See our guide on how to choose an oxygen concentrator.

For specific models, see the DYNMED Mini Series 5L oxygen concentrator and the Drive DeVilbiss 5L oxygen concentrator, both stationary models with a 0.5 to 5 L/min flow-rate setting.

Bathroom aids: shower chairs

Shower chairs come as fixed, folding, height-adjustable and backrest models. Compare the seat width, the weight capacity and the height range. Our shower chair buying guide explains the types. Contact us for what is currently available.
